  5. Gayle Keleher says:

    Dustin & Rebecca,
I am praying for your family through this difficult time.Your Grandmother Bobbi has graciously shared this website/link through the WCC website posting or “the puppies” website; quite an endearing community. My husband has had Dr.s from Duke on several occasions (we are in NC) and I can say they are very thorough, especially in the neuro dept. (which is one of my husband’s medical issues). He is a veteran going to the veteran’s hospital in Durham, and all of their consults/Dr.s walk across the street from Duke. Absolutely top-notch and they bring a “team” with them, as it is a teaching hospital. I wish all of you the very best and stay strong.
    God Bless
    Gayle

  6. Annette Black says:

    Dustin,
For the last several years Facebook has allowed me to watch, listen, and learn about the wonderful man you have become (although in my mind you are still look like the fourth grader I had the honor of teaching at St. Joseph’s School). I have applauded your eloquently worded opinions regarding politics and social issues, appreciated your often posted Bible passages, and celebrated your personal triumphs. You are in my prayers every day. I pray that God will continue to give you strength and courage to fight this unfair intruder. I pray that you and Rebecca will hold on to hope while holding on to each other. I pray that your beautiful son, Michael, will be a source of determination to you. My class of 25 first graders know your name and are praying for you every day, as well. We are all praying for your miracle.
    With love,
    Annette Black

  19. virginia evans says:

Dustin, I don’t know what to say to comfort you. my oldest son was diagnosed with the same tumor in 2011.he was 44 at the time. he had the surgery at York hospital. then he went through the radiation & chemo at apple hill. he was scared, but it did bring us all closer together. he was so strong & he even amazed the nurses because he was a fighter. he worried more about his family & friends.he never married. every day he would tell me he loved me .every time his brothers were here, he would hold their hands & tell them how much he loved them. the nurses said he had a goal to reach, he wanted to be here for my birthday. he was . he passed away that night feb. 2, I held him telling him how much he made me happy & I loved him. tell your family how much you care & love them, hold them. Robby believed in God & we prayed a lot. . You & your family will be in my prayers.

    • Charlie Licatese says:

      Dustin, Rebecca, Dillon, and family,

My heart has been with you Dustin since I heard. This is hard for me to explain in words, but Dustin I always admired you growing up. The times we played basketball, soccer, tennis and the many many other “obscure” sports we used to play at Kingston Park with Dillon and Gaetano. You are the best at everything you do and the smartest person I ever met in my life when it comes to all aspects of life. I continue to admire you through your courage and strength to fight this cancer with your positive and faith driven attitude. I wouldn’t expect anything less from you. Continue to fight Dustin. We’re all behind you and praying for you and your wonderful family. My family have been and will continue to pray for you. Stay strong Dustin!

P.S. Don’t worry Dustin I will fix your “botched” haircut :)

      Your Friend,
      Charlie Licatese

Dear Dustin, Rebecca, Dillon and Family,
I have been praying daily and asking my friends to pray also. I am the secretary at Campus Ministry at Marywood University and I remember Dustin and Rebecca well. God bless you all.

    Hi Dustin & Rebecca,

I saw the picture of you and Michael in the York Daily Record, I was touched by
the picture on the back page, you kissing Michael and the fact that you and Rebecca remained together all these years. I read the article and was inspired by your faith. Once I logged on I discoved that we’ve actually met once, when you were a little boy. Your mom and I are friends. You’ve grown up to be a remarkable young man. Stay strong. You and your family are in my prayers.

I am honored to have been witness to your rapid improvement the last three days. You are a wonderful person, and are blessed with a wonderful supportive family. Please continue to work hard and keep that positive attitude as that will take you farther than any medication can. I will be following your progress here and am so happy to see that something like this exists. It is so rare that we get to see our patients progress. Good luck to you and your family. You will be in my prayers.

    Dustin and Rebecca,
I’m so glad to have met you, even if a for a brief time while you were in Durham; You both are incredibly strong, resilient, and genuine and I know that your support for each other will get you through this. I can’t believe how much progress you made since your surgery Dustin and Rebecca you couldn’t have been a bigger part of Dustin’s recovery so far. I think about you both often and you are in my thoughts in prayers every day. I’m so glad you are back in PA and with your son and know that must be a welcomed place after being in the hospital for so much longer than you had anticipated. You both mean a lot to those you met in Durham and know that I am here for you if you need anything. Keep in touch and hope to talk with you soon.

    Matt

  29. Angus Whitton says:

I think we all have been touched by the effects of cancer, directly or indirectly, at some point in our lives.

I hope that with the miracles of modern medical techniques that destination ‘full recovery’ will be reached soon. It’s good that not only is there full support from the medical side – the other really important part is the essential support from friends and family.

I also hope that ‘soon’ is really soon and that Dustin gets back to a normal life as soon as possible!

  30. Michelle Van Gorder says:

    Hi Dustin & Rebecca,

I’m not sure if you remember me but I shared a class with you at Marywood. Since Marywood, the Lord has captured my heart and saved my soul. Since then I’ve also had a ran in with cancer also, with my now husband. The Lord healed my husband of stage 3 Oligoastrocytoma brain cancer, which is also very aggressive we were told. He was diagnosed in May 2010, and in May 2012, God answered my personal prayer of removing ALL of the tumor (as there was a tiny portion that they were unable to talk, because it would effect his speech/movement). Keep up the good fight of faith as you’ve been! I’m so proud of you both. It is not at all easy. I thank God that Jesus is our true Physician. Please let me know if you and Rebecca ever want to talk…either way, we will be praying. May God bless you and heal your body and soul…in Jesus Name. — Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” – Matthew 19:26 — Thinking and praying for you and your family, Dustin!

    Michelle Van Gorder (Perzia)
